Format: Paperback
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Part of a Series:
Rating: 3 stars

Summary from GoodReads:

Gracious living can be murder. First in an all-new mystery series— includes delicious recipes and great tips on entertaining!

Few can compete with Natasha Smith when it comes to entertaining, but her childhood rival, Sophie Winston, certainly tries. Natasha may have stolen the spotlight—and Sophie's husband—but Sophie is determined to rob her of the prize for the Stupendous Stuffing Shakedown. She just needs the right ingredient.

But Sophie's search for the perfect turkey takes a basting when she stumbles across a corpse. And when the police find her name and photo inside the victim's car, Sophie will have to set her trussing aside to solve the murder—or she'll be serving up prison grub.

My Review:

In the very beginning I did not like this book. However, I kept reading and did finally get sucked in with all that was going on. It reminded me of the movie Home for the Holidays. A lot of relatives with a lot of chaos. I can’t believe they were planning a wedding in the middle of what was going on.

I did like all the characters and the chaos that was created. You had the ex-husband and his new wife, Sophie Winston, who are dealing with the mother-in-law and the fact she is getting older. The two aunts who are interested in the single older gentleman, but when he chooses one of them the other tends to be a little hurt. The type of romance involving the detective and sleuth who are attracted to one another, but a little hesitant for many reasons. The neighbor to Natasha helping out on the crime was a lot of fun. The sister and her creepy fiancé, in the middle of planning a wedding. And why was there salt in the sugar?

Verdict: Not bad. I will probably read the next installment in the series in the future. The series does receive fairly good reviews from those that have read it.

  1. That's the best thing about not giving up on a book, when it gets better. I hadn't heard of this series before. Sounds like a fun type of chaos.
